Renovation: Ackert Hall
Manhattan, KS 68,433 SQ FT
Completed: July 25, 2022Ackert Hall is home to Kansas State University’s Division of Biology, including administrative offices, laboratories, classrooms, lecture rooms and an electron microscope lab. Originally built in 1970, the aging HVAC system suffered from cold and hot spots, was energy inefficient and did not provide enough outside air to meet today’s important health and safety needs.
McElroy’s refitted Ackert Hall with a completely new Variable Air Volume (VAV) system including 74 single-duct terminal units spread out over floors three through five. Single-duct reheat allows for highly efficient and precise temperature control for every individual temperature zone. Improved outside air circulation keeps dirty air moving out of the building, for a safer, healthier environment.
Comfortably controlled temperatures are key to successful learning and critical for laboratory work. The HVAC experts at McElroy’s were happy to help KSU upgrade Ackert Hall’s heating, cooling and ventilation systems with well-crafted and innovative solutions.
