Completed: November 21, 2018The University of Kansas needed to update the aging mechanical systems at the Simons Biosciences Research Laboratories to better support their innovative research initiatives, as well as add more lab space.
McElroy’s overhauled the existing chiller and provided high-efficiency, variable air velocity (VAV) heating and cooling systems with highly regulated airflow to suit individual-zone temperature requirements. For lab safety, fire/smoke dampers were installed and all piping and ductwork was fitted with specialized insulation.
Where unique locations required specialized temperature control, we provided hydronic baseboard radiators and ductless temperature control units with wireless controllers. We fitted the expanded lab area with overhead industrial hood and exhaust systems, lab airflow control systems, and barrier-free recessed shower and eye/face wash stations.
To put your science and laboratory facility on the leading edge of mechanical function and efficiency, McElroy’s offers the expertise and innovation you need.
