Over the last several years, McElroy’s has served as prime contractor on two projects for Westar Energy: a coal dump facility renovation, and an HVAC system replacement within an energy unit.
Coal dump facility: McElroy’s replaced the existing HVAC and plumbing systems with new, energy efficient systems, while renovating the break room, locker room, restrooms and offices. The upgrade also included low flow showers and fixtures.
Energy Unit J2: This project included the removal of a 200-ton air-handling unit and four accompanying condensing units. In their place, McElroy’s installed a more efficient HVAC system that includes variable air volume. All work on the project was completed with no downtime for the client.
A similar HVAC system replacement is currently under way on Energy Unit J1, with completion scheduled for December 2011.
